The precious metals expert Jalonom opens a new automated safe deposit service in Lahti, bringing secure storage closer to everyday life. This is the first self-service automated safe deposit solution in the Nordic countries.

The service is located in Lahti's Prismacenter Laune next to Jalonom's service point. Customers can use their safe deposit boxes independently according to the shopping center's opening hours from 7 AM to 11 PM.

Secure storage in an easily accessible location

The availability of traditional bank safe deposit boxes has decreased in recent years due to the reduction of bank branches. At the same time, the need for secure storage has increased. More and more people are looking for a place to safely store items such as investment gold, jewelry, valuable watches, or important documents.

Jalonom's CEO Kimmo Korkiakoski describes the situation as follows: "Many are looking for secure storage space for valuable items, business documents, and investment gold accumulated at home or in the company. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly difficult for customers to find physical safe deposit services."

The new service has been intentionally placed in a location where visiting is easy to combine with everyday routines. You can visit the safe deposit box, for example, during a shopping trip without a separate appointment.

Available when it suits you

The new service is intentionally placed in an easily accessible location.

The automated locker service is available during the shopping center's opening hours. Customers do not need to book in advance, but can use the service whenever it suits them best. The locker is also available when Jalonomi's own service point is closed, as long as the shopping center is open.

The locker machine offers the opportunity to integrate locker use into everyday routines, such as shopping trips. The service point is located in a separate private area where customers can conduct their business calmly and securely.

This is how the service works in practice

The use of the service is designed to be as clear and safe as possible.

  1. You make an agreement on-site at the Lahti service point

  2. You will receive a personal chip card and PIN code

  3. You will also identify yourself with a fingerprint

  4. The system will bring your locker to you using robotics

You can then add or retrieve your belongings independently. The duration of one visit is about 10 minutes.

Multiple users for one locker

Multiple users can be defined for the locker at the time of the agreement. All users must be present when the agreement is made and identify themselves personally.

Access rights are defined precisely. For example, if two people are designated as users, they must use the service together. The service will not start if the number of people present does not match the agreement.

One locker can have a maximum of five users.

High-level security

Safe deposit boxes are stored in a certified vault that protects assets from break-ins, fires, and loss.

The service utilizes Gunnebo Safe Storage technology provided by the company. The system is based on automated processing, where customers do not have access to the vault area.

Security is built on multiple layers:

  • three-phase identification

  • precise access control and logging

  • physically protected vault

  • private transaction area

  • Automated handling of the safe deposit box without access to the vault area

Similar systems are in use in thousands of locations around the world.

Gunnebo's representative Joakim Tillman commented: "Around the world, customers appreciate increasingly automated services for storing valuables, longer opening hours, and independent transactions. This solution is now coming to the Nordic countries for the first time."

Who is the safe deposit box service suitable for?

The safe deposit box service is suitable for anyone who values security and peace of mind in storing valuable assets.

The service is used by investors, small businesses, frequent travelers, and individuals who want to secure important documents or the property of their loved ones.

Clear pricing

The annual fee for the safe deposit box service is 253 euros.

The service can be reserved in advance, but the contract is always made on-site in Lahti. The payment for the safe deposit box service is tax-deductible if it relates to the storage of investment assets.

Towards future storage solutions

Jalonom is known as an expert in the precious metals industry, and the new service is part of the company's goal to develop safe and customer-oriented solutions.

The automated safe deposit box service is not just a new service, but it is a step towards future security storage solutions that combine:

  • security

  • ease of use

  • flexibility
